Preparing for Moving Day
It is important to clearly define what is being moved and what is not, so you and the movers can create a game plan when approaching your move.
Group items by room and make sure everything is ready for packing or loading.
All loose items should be neatly packed into boxes. We recommend clearly labeling boxes by room and marking any breakable items as “fragile.” If possible, place all the boxes in one organized area in your home. This will save you time and money on the move day.
Customer is responsible for emptying all drawers, cupboards, bookshelves, and similar storage prior to the move. All fuel-powered items must be completely drained of fuel, and all propane tanks must be removed before loading. Beds must be stripped, and all linens packed separately. Furniture requiring disassembly must be disassembled prior to the move unless disassembly services are requested in advance. Mattress bags are not included in standard moving services. Moving Day Gents can provide and install mattress bags for an additional fee if arranged in advance, or the customer may provide their own mattress bags for the crew to install.
Customer is responsible for properly preparing all televisions and electronic devices prior to the move. This includes unplugging and disconnecting all wires and accessories. Televisions larger than 55 inches must be boxed prior to loading. Boxes may be provided by the customer or arranged in advance through Moving Day Gents. If not properly prepared at the time of service, the carrier may decline to transport the item or transport it without liability.
Make sure all appliances are dry, empty, and disconnected from any gas or water lines. We can move any appliance for you but we can NOT disconnect or reconnect them from/to water or gas lines. For example, washers and refrigerators need to be disconnected from the waterlines prior to our arrival.
Keep halls and stairs clear; reserve parking/elevator where needed.
We cater to a wide range of clientele with different needs and expectations. Please make sure you express your needs/wants to the office prior to your move and to your team on the move day to ensure we approach your move as expected.
